Dear Parents and Students,
The 2007-2008 school year is underway, and we are
off to a very successful start. The greatest
priority we have at Greenbrier Middle School is
to attain the highest levels of student
achievement possible in a safe, positive learning
environment. To start our days off successfully,
we need your help with student morning and
afternoon supervision.
In the past, some students have been dropped off
at the front of the building prior to 7:00 a.m.,
the official arrival and start time for faculty
and staff. To accommodate these students, we have
allowed them to enter the building and remain in
the lobby until teachers arrive and can provide
proper supervision. This year the number of
students arriving early has reached approximately
70 and has caused us to have to reconsider this
practice.
Therefore, to provide proper supervision of
students, beginning September 18, 2007, the
school building will not be open to students
until 7:00 a.m. We are requesting that parents
refrain from dropping off students before this
time. Your help in this regard will support our
commitment to providing a safe learning
environment for our students.
We also request that parents of car riders pick
up their children promptly at dismissal, which is
2:35 p.m.. Additionally, students should not
re-enter the building after dismissal unless they
participate in school-sponsored activities.
Parents of car riders, please note the following
requests: We have two lines for afternoon
pick-up; one is located in the
teacher
parking lot and one directly in
front of the
school.
Please arrange with your children in which line
you will meet them.
-
Parents picking up students in the teacher parking lot, please meet your children at the end of the sidewalk. (Crossing between cars is unsafe for students.) Please enter the parking lot nearest to the athletic field, and exit there, as well.
-
When picking up students in front of the school, please pull your car into the curve portion of the driveway (past the flagpole). Pulling forward allows more students to meet their parents simultaneously.
-
Please do not leave your car unattended in car-rider lines as this impedes traffic flow.
-
It is unsafe for students to walk through the parking lot to meet parents in parked cars. For parents that choose to park, please meet your children at the front entrance and escort them through the parking lot to your cars.
-
Walkers should stay on the sidewalk and are not permitted to walk through parking lots without a parent.
We greatly appreciate your cooperation with drop-off and pick-up procedures at Greenbrier Middle School. Providing a safe and dynamic learning environment is our mission, and your support is essential. If you have questions about these procedures, please contact the front office at 706-650-6080. Thank you for your support, and we look forward to the best school year yet!
Sincerely,
Sharon Carson
